Herculaneum's House of the Carbonized Furniture reopens after 30 years

I’m so excited to share that one of Herculaneum's most intriguing homes, the House of the Carbonized Furniture, has finally reopened after three decades! This remarkable restoration was made possible through a collaboration with the Packard Humanities Institute, which has been dedicated to preserving this ancient site. The house is famous for its carbonized furniture, including a small table and a high-backed bed, all preserved since the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. It’s a fantastic opportunity to step back in time and appreciate the everyday life of the Romans, beautifully captured in this stunning domus.
