NASA’s Hubble reveals a black hole hiding inside a massive star cluster in the Milky Way

Scientists have finally detected a small black hole in Omega Centauri, a massive star cluster in the Milky Way. For years, researchers suspected the cluster was home to many stellar-mass black holes, but they were hard to find. Using over 20 years of data from Hubble and the James Webb Space Telescope, they identified a star orbiting a massive object, confirming the presence of a black hole named oMEGACat BH-2. This exciting discovery opens the door for more black hole detections in the future, especially with upcoming telescopes like the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
