Physicists trap a single antimatter particle for a month

So: physicists have managed to trap a single positron, the antimatter counterpart of an electron, for a month so they can study its quantum states. They slow the particles in cold tungsten, then confine one in an ultra-cold vacuum using electric and magnetic fields instead of walls. The team hopes to measure the positron’s magnetic moment and compare it with an electron’s, testing a key prediction of the Standard Model. Any difference could offer a clue to why the universe contains far more matter than antimatter.
