If you want good news, read the science pages

I've been digging through 91 days of data from 37 news sources, using a positivity score to see which stories actually feel hopeful - and the results surprised me. General news hovers around 1 to 2 percent positive articles, but science publications are ten to fifteen times higher: Popular Science at 24 percent, Science.org at 17 percent, Nature at 15 percent. So here's the thing - science reporting covers discovery and progress, which genuinely *is* good news, while consumer-tech coverage scores nearly as low as hard news because it focuses on industry troubles rather than human breakthroughs. If you've given up on the news feeling flat, steering toward the science pages is concrete and actionable - that's where the hope actually lives.
