This rare purple Himalayan flower has returned to India after 158 years

I’m absolutely thrilled to share that Cyananthus hookeri, a stunning purple-blue flower, has been rediscovered in Arunachal Pradesh after being lost to science for 158 years! This delicate beauty was first collected by the famous botanist Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker in 1867, but it vanished from India’s records. The recent findings by the Botanical Survey of India not only confirm its return but also highlight the Eastern Himalayas as a treasure trove of biodiversity. It’s a wonderful reminder that nature still holds many surprises for us!
