A colossal magma system has been hiding beneath Tuscany

Scientists have made an exciting discovery of a massive magma body lying deep beneath Tuscany, which is quite surprising given the region's lack of typical surface signs. Using a technique called ambient noise tomography, they found about 6,000 km3 of volcanic fluids buried 8 to 15 km below the surface. This finding could not only enhance our understanding of Tuscany's geology but also assist in locating geothermal energy and critical minerals like lithium. It's fascinating to think that such a large volume of magma exists without any obvious warning signs!
