Horizontal levees are spreading across the Bay Area

So, have you heard about the new horizontal levees popping up in the Bay Area? Unlike traditional levees that are steep and rocky, these living levees blend beautifully into the landscape, using native plants to help with flood control and habitat restoration. The Palo Alto pilot project is particularly exciting because it’s connected to the wastewater treatment center, which helps irrigate the plants while improving water quality.
