Scientists are building a microscope powered by a quantum computer

So here's what's fascinating - researchers in Austria have figured out that conventional electron microscopes are actually wasting valuable information that electrons carry with them. The team at TU Wien, working with colleagues from Vienna, Linz, and Innsbruck, is now connecting an electron microscope to a quantum computer to capture this unused quantum data. By creating quantum entanglement between electrons and trapped ions, they can combine information from multiple electrons and extract clearer images while exposing delicate samples to far fewer electrons. This is especially exciting for biological materials like individual proteins that get damaged easily - now scientists could get better images without harming their samples.
