The Tatras are clean again: 1,000 volunteers cleared the national park trails

In a remarkable milestone, the Clean Poland Association celebrated 15 years of the Czyste Tatry initiative by bringing exactly 1,000 volunteers to restore the iconic mountain trails - the same number that launched the project back in 2012. Over the past 14 editions, nearly 43,400 volunteers have removed an impressive 7,800 kilograms of trash, with data showing a stunning sevenfold decrease in litter left on the trails. What started as a response to embarrassment about how Poland treated this national treasure has evolved into something far more powerful - the focus has shifted from cleanup alone to long-term environmental education and inspiring young people to take responsibility for the planet. The movement brought together Olympic athletes, celebrities, and countless passionate individuals who proved that caring for nature is a marathon of shared values, respect, and collective action.
