This 200-year-old architectural style, which uses a quilt-like patchwork of wood and stone, allows buildings to tilt safely during earthquakes rather than collapse like modern structures often do. After inheriting the neglected property in 2010, Madhavi left her corporate job to restore it as a sustainable venture while honoring her family heritage and childhood memories. The result is a beautiful, earthquake-resistant homestay that proves ancient wisdom sometimes outperforms modern construction methods when it comes to surviving nature's most violent forces.
