A farmer's son turned solar entrepreneur is helping 50,000 farmers earn from the sun

Bhavesh Patidar grew up watching his father struggle to earn a stable income from farming, a memory that stayed with him through his IIT education and tech career. When he discovered India's PM-KUSUM scheme, he tested the idea of converting underused farmland into solar power plants on his own family's land - and the income proved far more predictable than traditional farming. His success inspired neighbours to ask how they could do the same, which sparked the founding of Solarsure in November 2024. Now, just months in, his company has already reached over 50,000 farmers across six Indian states, commissioned 300 MW of solar capacity, and helped farmers increase their income by more than 30 percent.
