Scientists discover largest new impact crater in the solar system ever—on our moon

So, I was absolutely thrilled to read about this massive new crater discovered on the moon by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. It is quite rare to spot something like this, as an impact of this size only happens about once every 132 years. Which brings me to the fascinating part: this crater, named McGetchin, is actually the largest newly formed one we have ever found in our solar system. And here's the thing, studying these impacts helps us understand the lunar surface much better as we plan for future human missions. It is just incredible to see how our cosmic neighbor keeps changing right before our eyes.
