Stonehenge’s 6-ton altar stone may have traveled from Scotland by glacier

I find it fascinating that the massive Altar Stone at Stonehenge might have started its journey all the way in northeast Scotland! Researchers combined mineral dating and ice sheet models to suggest glaciers could have carried it part of the way to Dogger Bank in the North Sea. Now, here’s the thing: people still had to move this six-tonne stone hundreds of kilometers to Salisbury Plain, which shows incredible Neolithic effort and cooperation. This discovery opens up exciting ideas about how ancient communities valued and transported such monumental stones.
