Underground world dates back 7,300 years as archaeologists uncover 300 meters of tunnels

I just love how history surprises us! Near Hallstatt in Austria, archaeologists found a vast system of tunnels and chambers dating back 7,300 years. These ancient miners followed salt deposits deep underground, creating huge spaces up to 24 meters wide and 20 meters high. What’s fascinating is that even after landslides destroyed parts of the mine, the community quickly resumed salt extraction. And here’s the thing: they even found ancient tools and preserved artifacts thanks to the salt’s unique properties, giving us a vivid glimpse into prehistoric mining life.
