PFAS levels in most Dutch people’s blood are decreasing: a ban seems to be working

So: the amount of PFAS chemicals in the blood of most Dutch people is going down, which is really encouraging news! The RIVM’s latest research shows a partial improvement since stricter regulations started, even though many still have levels above what’s considered safe. Now, here’s the twist - in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, PFAS levels have actually risen, likely due to pollution from nearby Antwerp industry. And here’s the thing: this study focuses on ten key PFAS types, but doesn’t cover TFA, a smaller PFAS that’s harder to track in blood but might be increasing. Overall, it looks like the ban is making a difference, but some challenges remain.
