Thank your donor personally? Soon possible for stem cell recipients, advises Health Council

The Dutch Health Council recommends allowing stem cell recipients to personally contact their donors, a big step from the current anonymous message exchange. This contact would only be possible after two years and with informed consent from both parties to protect against pressure or obligations. It’s exciting because many donors and recipients feel the need to connect, and this change could also encourage more people to become donors. Plus, it opens the door to considering similar contact for kidney or liver tissue donors in the future.
