A major early Christian monastery emerges in Scotland

So, archaeologists have uncovered a large early Christian monastery on Scotland’s island of Lismore, a site long linked to Saint Mo Luóc in the sixth century. Excavations revealed ancient graves, buildings, sculpture fragments and signs of workshops. Hundreds of molds and crucibles for working precious metals make the finds especially striking, and suggest the monastery was an important craft center. Researchers say Lismore may have played a bigger role in early Christianity than previously thought, and plan to keep exploring the site.
