Community lighthouses keep neighbors connected when power fails

After Hurricane Ida left parts of New Orleans without power for 12 days, local faith and community leaders came up with a practical idea: solar-powered neighborhood hubs. Today, 14 Community Lighthouses serve New Orleans and six more operate elsewhere in Louisiana, offering electricity for cooling, phone charging and medical devices during outages. They also bring neighbors, food providers and other local services together when people need support most. And here's the thing: organizers hope to build many more, helping communities prepare for future emergencies and everyday blackouts alike.
