So, there’s encouraging news for mountain gorillas: their population in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo has grown to 1,063, up from about 300 in 1990. Uganda is home to 459 of them in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Conservation officials credit habitat protection, regular monitoring, law enforcement and stronger community involvement for the increase.
