Saudi solar park becomes a haven for threatened gazelles

So: a 1,200-acre solar park in a vast Saudi nature reserve is giving vulnerable Arabian sand gazelles a safe place to feed, breed, and roam. Thirty-eight gazelles now live among the panels, where shade offers welcome relief from the desert heat and wildlife-proof fencing helps keep predators out. Conservationists hope the herd will grow to more than 500, helping restore a self-sustaining population across the reserve. It’s a bright example of how renewable energy sites can also support wildlife, alongside mountain gazelles and Arabian hares that have joined the park.
