How NYC students saved school lunch

Here’s a lovely example of young people turning everyday frustrations into real change. At Brooklyn’s Midwood High, Leslie Gomez Rivera surveyed classmates about what they wanted to eat and why they avoided the cafeteria. She shared their feedback with school leaders, then helped get students back into the redesigned space by promoting its reopening and menu. Now, Youth Food Advocates students are also helping schools make cafeterias more welcoming, with ideas like food stations that offer more choice and shorter queues.
