A star is slowly feeding on its brown dwarf companion

So, MIT astronomers have spotted a remarkable system about 300 light-years away where a small star is gradually drawing material from a nearby brown dwarf. Rather than swallowing its companion all at once, the star appears to be feeding on it slowly - a process that could last hundreds of thousands of years, and perhaps even billions. The discovery is the first observed example of a low-mass star steadily taking material from another low-mass object. A puzzling triangular pattern in the system’s changing brightness helped lead researchers to this unusual cosmic relationship.
