A unique 3d shape breaks new ground in tiling

A seven-cube shape called Chair44 can fill three-dimensional space without gaps or overlaps, while never repeating its pattern. The discovery offers a strong 3D example of an “einstein” tile, a single shape that can tile space only in a nonrepeating arrangement. Its creator, Ioannis Tsiokos, says he used AI tools to help develop and check the result. And here's the fun part: larger chairs can be built recursively from smaller ones, creating an endlessly growing mathematical puzzle.
