Atlantic bluefin tuna spotted off the Belgian coast again

So: the Flemish Marine Institute has reported a remarkable sighting near the Belgian coast. Three or four Atlantic bluefin tuna, measuring around 1.5 to 2 metres, were seen hunting about 50 metres from the Thornton Bank. The species was last observed in Belgian waters in the 1960s, and the witnesses’ accounts were considered sufficient by the institute, although no images were recorded. Intensive fishing and declining herring numbers are thought to have contributed to the tuna’s disappearance.
