Astronomers uncover new secrets of the universe’s first five minutes

So, astronomers have measured the helium made during the Universe’s first five minutes with record precision, reducing uncertainty to just 0.5%. The international team spent 130 hours observing 15 exceptionally pristine, distant galaxies with the Large Binocular Telescope. By studying many helium and hydrogen signals together, they corrected subtle sources of error and made the result three times more precise than earlier estimates. And here’s the exciting part: this measurement gives scientists a powerful new way to test the Standard Model and investigate the Universe’s earliest conditions.
