A hidden obstacle to more powerful quantum computers overcome

So, silicon spin qubits are promising for quantum computers because they can be made using techniques already used for computer chips. Researchers at RIKEN and their collaborators found that an effect called the AC Stark shift was causing errors when several qubits were controlled at once. Their pair-based calibration method helped keep accuracy above 99.99% with up to three qubits operating simultaneously, and around 99.9% with all five. That is an encouraging step toward scaling up silicon quantum processors while keeping their operations remarkably precise.
