Here’s an encouraging shift: shared power, water treatment and logistics are helping reduce the upfront costs of setting up textile factories in African industrial parks. These common services could make it easier for businesses to expand into spinning, dyeing and finishing, while connecting more stages of cotton production. In Ethiopia’s Hawassa park, a wastewater plant treats water for reuse, and factories pay a portion of the operating costs. So, shared infrastructure can help attract investment and support more resource-efficient textile manufacturing.
