Their real-time reports help farmers prepare for nearby lions, while rapid-response teams work to prevent livestock losses and keep people safe. The programme now operates across 11 conservancies, with rangers covering a vast region of around 40,000 square kilometres. Their work builds on a conservation recovery that helped the lion population grow from about 20 adults in 1997 to around 180 by 2015.
