MIT team creates new crystal structures with flexible connectors

So, MIT researchers have challenged a 20-year-old belief about how to assemble nanoparticles. Instead of using rigid molecular connectors, they found that highly flexible connectors can guide particles into crystal structures never seen before. This fresh approach could help scientists design materials with precisely tailored properties for electronics, medicine, energy, agriculture, and manufacturing. It’s a surprising new tool for materials science, with findings set to appear in Nature Materials.
