Golf ball-sized octopus discovered near the Galápagos Islands

A remarkable new octopus species, Microeledone galapagensis, has been discovered near the Galápagos Islands, and it's tiny enough to fit in your hand! Marine biologists first spotted this vibrant blue creature during a deep-sea expedition back in 2015, but it took years to confirm its uniqueness. Thanks to advanced CT scanning technology, researchers were able to study this rare specimen without damaging it. This discovery not only adds to our understanding of deep-sea life but also marks a significant achievement in the career of octopus expert Janet Voight.
