Ancient American cheetahs were not exactly cheetah-like

So, the ancient American cheetah, known as M. trumani, turns out to be quite different from the cheetahs we know today! New DNA evidence shows that these big cats were more closely related to pumas than to modern cheetahs. They roamed much farther north than previously thought, adapting to their environment and diet, which included a surprising amount of fish.
