A new headset for depression is now available in the US

So, Flow Neuroscience - a Swedish company - has just gotten FDA approval to sell a wearable headset that treats depression right from home. The device stimulates the left frontal lobe of your brain for 30 minutes a day using gentle electrical pulses, targeting the same area that traditional magnetic treatments work on but without needing clinic visits. In trials, 45 percent of users saw their depression symptoms disappear after 10 weeks, compared to just 22 percent in a placebo group - and it works whether you're on antidepressants or not. The catch? It costs $2,200 for 10 weeks upfront, then $325 monthly, though the company is pushing insurers to cover it, and over 65,000 people have already used it successfully across Europe since 2019.
