First diplodocus fossils discovered outside the United States

So here's something genuinely exciting - paleontologists have just found Diplodocus remains in Spain, which is a first for this iconic long-necked dinosaur genus that's been exclusively North American until now. The discovery in El Castellar, near Teruel, includes 14 beautifully preserved tail vertebrae and bone structures that researchers confidently identified through detailed anatomical comparisons and evolutionary analysis. This 150-million-year-old individual was roughly 82 feet long, making it just as impressive as its American cousins, and it tells us something fascinating about how these giants could migrate between North America and Europe via temporary land bridges across the proto-Atlantic. The finding really opens up our understanding of Late Jurassic ecosystems and suggests that sauropod diversity in Europe was far richer than we previously thought.
