New tuberculosis vaccines could save 7.3 million lives by 2050

So, here's something really exciting - new TB vaccines expected around 2029 could save an estimated 7.3 million lives by 2050, which is frankly remarkable. Beyond the human impact, we're looking at up to US$ 135 billion in economic benefits for low- and middle-income countries, which matters enormously for those regions carrying 77% of the disease burden. Now, the current BCG vaccine is over 100 years old and loses its protective power in adolescents and adults - these new vaccines are specifically designed to fill that gap. And here's the thing: Gavi is already working with partners to ensure countries with the highest disease burden can actually access sufficient, affordable doses when they arrive.
