Three entrepreneurs empower 50,000 deaf Indians with job skills and exam access

Nita Gopalakrishnan, raised by deaf parents and now a special educator, founded Yunikee in 2020 with her husband Chaithanya and colleague Rahul Jain - both inspired by witnessing the systemic barriers deaf Indians face. The trio created this Hyderabad-based platform during the pandemic after realizing that hearing-disabled students were denied online learning opportunities that others enjoyed, sparking their vision for equal access to jobs and skills training. Through campaigns like 'Sign Medium', Yunikee has already reached over 50,000 deaf persons across India, with more than 10,000 young people learning Indian Sign Language and gaining crucial employment readiness. What makes this initiative so powerful is that it gives voice and visibility to a community often ignored - the name Yunikee itself means 'I exist. Don't ignore me' in Telugu - while breaking cycles of dependency and opening real pathways to independence.
