Two hundred Turnhout residents sing together for peace: 'Start by being more tolerant yourself'

In Turnhout, around 200 residents gathered at cultural venue de Warande to sing 'What a Wonderful World' together, joining a global movement for Peace Day. They also unveiled a powerful artwork made from approximately 6,000 hand-folded paper cranes - inspired by a Japanese legend about making wishes for health and peace. Mayor Hannes Anaf emphasized that peace starts with kindness toward your neighbors and tolerance for different opinions, even challenging the harsh tone often found on social media. Now the crane artwork will be distributed symbolically throughout the city, with pieces going to community centers, local organizations, and to all the residents who participated, spreading the message of peace in a beautiful, tangible way.
