Scientists discover a bizarre Jurassic squid unlike anything ever seen

So, two exceptionally rare fossils from Wyoming have revealed Wyoteuthis linsterorum, a squid relative that lived around 160 million years ago. Its barrel-shaped internal skeleton is about 10 centimetres long and an extraordinary 6 centimetres wide, making it the chunkiest known belemnite. Researchers suggest its impressive size may have helped it hunt smaller belemnites, and estimate the animal could have reached about 60 centimetres from arms to body.
