Dinosaur blood found in fossils for the first time

Well, this is a remarkable first: researchers have identified heme, an oxygen-carrying blood compound, in a 115-million-year-old dinosaur fossil. The material was found in the limb bones of a young theropod discovered in what is now northeastern Brazil. A manganese oxide appears to have helped preserve the blood’s molecular structures, along with other biomolecules. So, this discovery could deepen our understanding of dinosaur biology and even guide the search for traces of life beyond Earth.
